"I have been tormented about getting my permit by all of my friends because I'm the youngest," Fanning told PEOPLE at The Secret Life of Bees premiere at The Toronto International Film Festival over the weekend. "They all have their permits or license and I'm like 'Yes, I too will get mine in a year. So don't talk to me about that anymore!' "
Fanning, 14, said she will have to get her parents permission first before getting behind the wheel. "I think they won't let me drive right when I turn 15 – probably when I'm 15 and a half. They will see if I'm ready."
Looking very chic in a black Zac Posen dress and in high heels, the former child star has grown up and even shared her first romantic kiss as an adult with her Bees costar and new 90210 stud Tristan Wilds.
"I wasn't nervous because we shot it at the end of filming so we knew each other really well," Fanning admitted. "He's the sweetest person ever."
Fanning had her first on-screen kiss at the age of 7 as a young Reese Witherspoon in the film Sweet Home Alabama.
