And the Oscar-bleacher tickets go to … the general public!

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Tuesday that 300 of the spaces alongside the 500-ft. red-carpeted walkway outside the entrance to Hollywood's Kodak Theatre will be made available in a weeklong online lottery that gets underway on the Academy's Web site starting 9 a.m. PT Monday, Sept. 22.

Up for grabs is the chance to win up to four tickets for Tinsel Town's biggest night, next Feb. 22.

In past years, as many as 20,000 people have applied online for the coveted seats. Those who do win will be permitted to watch the post-red-carpet Oscar telecast from a nearby location.
