Gillian Anderson at premiere in London
Pregnant Gillian Anderson gave the audience quite a scare Wednesday night, when she lost her balance and fell to the floor at the London premiere of How to Lose Friends and Alienate People
As director Robert Weide introduced the movie – which also stars Kirsten Dunst
and Megan Fox – he joked that Anderson going into labor that night would be great publicity.
Anderson, 40, then went on stage, in a floor-grazing Alice Temperley dress, and threw a fake punch at Weide. But she lost her balance and ended up falling to the ground, drawing gasps from the crowd at the Empire Leicester Square.
Weide reassured the audience that the 40-year-old actress – who is expecting her third child
– was fine. "Is there a lawyer in the house?" he quipped.
Anderson, who is eight months pregnant, also joked with reporters, "I'm so close to popping out," the BBC
reports. She also said, in light of the eccentric names some celebrities give their babies, that she wasn't going that route.
"I have chosen something," she said, "but I don't think it's crazy."
Once Anderson was back on her feet, the director introduced the movie's leading man, Simon Pegg – who faked a tumble as he joined them on the stage.
