Justin Timberlake Talks about His Game

Want to know the secrets to Justin Timberlake's game? In his latest magazine cover interview, the singer reveals everything he knows – about playing golf, that is.

Holding a golf club across his shoulders and wearing one of his trademark fedoras, Timberlake, 27, graces the cover of October’s Golf Digest. The cover coincides with his hosting the Shriners Hospital for Children Open tournament in Las Vegas this October.

So how did Timberlake get into the sport?

"I never really took up the game until about six or seven years ago. I remember I hit one amazing shot off the tee, straight down the middle. I got to thinking maybe I could play this game," he says.

While he doesn't pretend to be the next Tiger Woods, Timberlake sees a connection between the sport and his day job: "The golf swing is very, very rhythmic. There's a certain tempo to it, just like in music."

Timberlake also reveals that he's bringing golf to his hometown.

He and his parents are renovating Mirimichi Lakes, a public golf course in Memphis, Tenn., to encourage beginners and families to learn the sport. Hopefully they can find the solace that he does.

"For me," Timberlake says, "golf is one of those things where you go out and forget about everything else."
