RACHAEL RAY'S SCARF SNAFU
In May, Dunkin' Donuts pulled an ad featuring Rachael Ray after complaints that the fringed black-and-white scarf she wore too closely resembled a kaffiyeh, a traditional Arab headdress. In a statement, the company responded that the scarf did not support Muslim extremism but had a "paisley design."
Italian Vogue devoted its July 2008 issue to black models. Featuring Naomi Campbell, Liya Kebede, Chanel Iman and Tyra Banks, the issue challenged the notion that such covers do not sell.
