Lily Allen picked up a songwriting award for "Smile" at the BMI Awards in London Tuesday, but the singer had another reason to celebrate.
"I got my U.S. visa today, yay!" she told PEOPLE at the awards. "It means I can go and tour there and finish what I started, which is something I've wanted to do for a while."
Allen had her visa revoked
– and was forced to cancel a string of show dates – in August 2007 after a scuffle with a photographer.
The singer – who has blamed her record company
for album delays – also revealed that she finally has a title and a release date for her second album.
"It will be out Feb. 9 and – can I say the name of it?" she asked her manager. "It's called It's Not Me, It's You
." As for the sound and tone: "It's different," she said coyly. "It's just ... different."
Allen wore a Chanel dress and Louis Vuitton shoes to the awards, held at London's Dorchester Hotel. The trim-looking star – who said she's doing "nothing special" ono the diet and exercise front – also showed off a new short hairstyle. "I just did it two weeks ago," she said. "No reason, just needed a haircut!"
