Picks and Pans Review: Josh Brolin Why I Say, 'Hail to the Chief'

UPDATED 11/03/2008 at 01:00 AM EST Originally published 11/03/2008 at 01:00 AM EST

After spending the past two decades toiling in mostly forgettable films (The Mod Squad) and TV series (The Young Riders), Brolin, 40, seemed destined for a career as a hunky also-ran. But proving that every talented actor is just one great role away from stardom, Brolin found his as a likable loser in the Oscar-winning No Country for Old Men. Now, with his brilliant dead-on portrayal of George W. Bush in W., he turns the current President into a tragically flawed yet sympathetic figure. Up next: another challenging role, as assassin Dan White in Milk, due out Nov. 26.
