FANTASY
The premiere of this adventure from co--executive producer Sam Raimi (who directed the Spider-Man movies and coproduced Xena: Warrior Princess) boasts good special effects—spirits of the dead look like somewhat dinkier Harry Potter Dementors. It also has misty, primeval forests and heavily plotted goings-on involving wizards, nice peasants and dark lords so demonic they'd let the banking system collapse and ignore the wails for relief. It wants to be Tolkien TV but at this point lacks a sense of epic magic.
