"It really has been an amazing night," Juanes said when his hit, "La Vida ... Es Un Ratico," was named Record of the Year.
Gloria Estefan, who performed two songs during the three-hour ceremony, took home two awards: for Best Tropical Song and Best Traditional Tropical Album, for her 90 Millas. She was also honored Wednesday as the Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year.
Mexican alt-rockers Café Tacvba also proved a double winner: Best Rock Song ("Esta Vez") and Best Alternative Song ("Volver a Comenzar").
Prior to Juanes's new benchmark, Spanish balladeer Alejandro Sanz had won the most Latin Grammys, 14.
