Three days after Jodie Sweetin filed for legal separation from husband Cody Herpin, her agent tells PEOPLE that the actress is "trying to stay positive for Zoie," their 7-month-old daughter.

"Her focus is the baby," agent Stella Alex said on Saturday. "Jodie's got a huge support system in her family and friends and she thinks this is what's best for her."

For his part, Herpin, 31, says he's "still discombobulated" over the split. "Not knowing what's going on is hard." He adds that Sweetin, 26, and their daughter are staying with her parents. "It's rough," he says. "Marriage is not taken lightly to me. It's supposed to be forever."

According to the Superior Court papers filed Wednesday in Orange County, Calif., Sweetin cited "irreconcilable differences" as the cause of the split, and she is seeking joint legal and physical custody of Zoie.
