My Chemical Romance singer and comic book artist Gerard Way will soon take on a new role: fatherhood.

The baby is due early next summer, his rep confirms to PEOPLE.

Way, 31, married Lyn-Z (real name: Lindsey Ballato), 32, the bassist for punk band Mindless Self Indulgence in September 2007. It is the first child for the rocker couple.
