One Bright Future

FOLK-POP
If you're still holding out for another "Fast Car," you won't find it on Tracy Chapman's new CD. But there remains an enduring appeal to her sweet twang and honest introspection. On her solid eighth effort she weaves tales of love and political entanglement with ethereal piano and layered strings. Future also finds Chapman digging into her past: her adolescence on "For a Dream" and her gritty 20s on "I Did It All."
