They may have opened for the Jonas Brothers
in concert, but Australian duo The Veronicas say the boys have them
to thank for their finely tuned showmanship.
“We taught the Jonas Brothers everything they know,” 23-year-old twin sisters Lisa and Jess Origliasso joked at the Z100 Jingle Ball in New York City Friday night. Still, the girls (whose single “Untouched” has become a top 40 hit) told PEOPLE they have the JoBro’s staggering fan base to thank for their own growing fame.
“Obviously, their fans are very dedicated and very enthusiastic,” says Jess. “So every time we got onstage it was insane.” Adds Lisa: “We were definitely feeling the love from their fans, which was cool.”
And the sister act is used to working with bands of brothers with big female fan bases—they also toured with Hanson this fall. “It’s hard,” jokes Jess. “But we get through it.”
