Despite her relationship track record, Drew Barrymore
still believes in love.
She's survived two failed marriages and had several boyfriends (most recently her He's Just Not That Into You
costar Justin Long), but Barrymore says she's been single for the past six months and couldn't be happier.
"I love happy endings and believe in them most of the time," Barrymore says in the February issue of Ladies Home Journal
. And the 33-year-old actress still loves the topic of love.
"It's that feeling that you're not alone in this world and that life makes sense," she muses. "Love is something that evolves over many years, that is without judgment and requires a lot of patience, nurturing and enabling of great things."
In the past several years, Barrymore has focused more on giving back to those in need. As an ambassador for the World Food Programme, she has twice traveled to Kenya to witness the poverty and malnutrition. Last year she donated $1 million to the organization and made a short film based on her travels, viewable on her official Web site
"I love the lighter side of life as much as the next person," Barrymore says, noting that she'd next like to visit India. "But I've become less and less afraid of the heavy stuff."
