CRITIC'S CHOICE

R&B
In the Auto-Tune generation of R&B, Anthony Hamilton is a throwback to the days when singers were singers and songs were songs. Take "Diamond in the Rough," this disc's gem of a slow jam, which sounds like an old Isley Brothers tune; or "Prayin' for You/Superman," which goes from old-time gospel to torchy jazz. While not quite up to the level of 2005's career best, Ain't Nobody Worryin', this is another high point in modern soul.
