Caught in the Act: The D.C. Edition!

• Jessica Alba, browsing for vintage couture with hubby Cash Warren at Annie Creamcheese in Georgetown. And the actress – in a beige sweater and high-waisted sailor pants – didn't come empty-handed: Alba brought along a video camera and interviewed sales staff about Washington, D.C., and the inauguration during her 30-minute shopping trip. Alba also left with a treat for herself: a black Ferragamo blazer for $395. "She was in such a good mood," says a source.

• Diddy, walking briskly through the lobby of D.C.'s Mandarin Oriental Hotel, flanked by security. The star was in a rush to make a pre-scheduled appearance at Love nightclub. Also at the Mandarin: the music mogul's mother, who mingled with friends in the hotel's lobby bar around midnight.

• Sarah Jessica Parker, hosting a dinner for 50 guests with Matt Dillon at Café Milano in Georgetown. According to onlookers, the actress drank some red wine, enjoyed the food and "was the life of the party." Says a source: "She was in a great mood – so friendly to everyone!"

• The President-elect hasn't been absent from the party circuit, either: Barack and Michelle Obama (and their daughters Sasha and Malia), enjoying a "warm, informal evening" with 90 family and friends, including Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King, at Blair House. Guests enjoyed a soundtrack of jazz music provided by the Paquito D'Rivera Quintet and a buffet dinner. As the adults chatted, "the kids were running around just being kids," Charlie Fishman, the executive director of the Duke Ellington Jazz Festival who assembled the quintet, told us. Says Fishman: "The energy in the room was amazingly positive. It was a very down-to-earth event."

• Jon Bon Jovi, dining at Adour at The St. Regis Washington, D.C. with friends. The singer, who performed at the We Are One inaugural concert, enjoyed the special black truffle tasting menu that was created for the inauguration.

• Blair Underwood, checking out a quilt exhibit at the Children's Inaugural Ball at the Historical Society of Washington with wife Desiree and their three kids.

• Vanessa Williams, meeting with two men at a table in the lobby of the Mandarin Oriental hotel. The Ugly Betty star wore her hair down and looked chic in a tan coat and black pants as she checked her BlackBerry.
