What will life really be like for the Obamas in their new house? PEOPLE went looking for answers – and found them, as is revealed in the latest cover story, on sale Friday.

For starters, the actual shade of the White House is "Whisper White," from Sherwin-Williams.

Other factoids:
• Except for Uncle Sam-funded official dinners, all meal, drink and dry cleaning bills go to the First Family, to be taken out of the president's $400,000 annual salary.

• Take-out food can be delivered, in addition to what's available from the fully stocked White House kitchen.

• Yes, there are locks and keys … but the president doesn't unlock them. The Secret Service does.
