YOUR CHARACTER WANTS TO STEAL CHILDREN'S SOULS. I can do all those cartoony voices with accents and stuff [but] this was about showing the desperation of a very angry, rageful woman.
NOT METHOD ACTING, WE HOPE! The mom says, "Shut up, Coraline!" I've never said shut up to my daughter [Emerson, 11] in my life. Being a loving but distant mother was not something that was in me at all.
YOUR DAUGHTER HAS A VOICE CAMEO. When you hear fireflies say, "Coraline," that's her. But she's not becoming an actress! It was just a lark.
