THE DOC IS IN!
Back in the TV role that made him famous—ER's Dr. Doug Ross—GEORGE CLOONEY, 47, has publicly returned to another stomping ground: the dating scene. On Jan. 24 he dined with a mystery brunette at Studio City's Kazu Sushi. Two days earlier, Clooney returned to ER to reprise his role as the show's roguish pediatrician. Insiders say executive producer John Wells closed the set to keep details under wraps—and both NBC and Warner Bros. are not commenting—but Clooney told Scoop Jan. 26 at the Newseum's Reel Journalism series in Washington, D.C., "It was fun to be back and it was good to see those guys."
THE People POLL

Nearly 15 years after becoming the original McDreamy, Clooney is back in blue.
People.com readers hit the buzzer to let us know which doc gets their heart pumping:
TRIBUTE TO HEATH
While cohosting a Jan. 22 party with on-again girlfriend Samantha Ronson, 31, at Shrine, a nightclub at MGM Grand at Foxwoods in Connecticut, Lindsay Lohan, 22, scrawled "R.I.P. HEATH LEDGER, WITH ALL MY LOVE, LINDSAY LOHAN" on leftover party invites and threw them into the crowd, says a source. Both Ledger and Ronson seemed to be on her mind that day, as she updated her Facebook status with "I love my girl ... r.i.p. heath I."
BACK IN REHAB
Following a rehab stint in 2004 for painkiller addiction and another in 2005, Kelly Osbourne, 24, is back in treatment. "She has voluntarily entered a medical facility to address some personal issues," said her rep, while a source adds, "Kelly's struggle with addiction has been ongoing." Mom Sharon told Radaronline.com, "The family is all standing behind her."
A paramedic who tried to revive Jett Travolta, 16, at his parents' Bahamian home Jan. 2 was, on Jan. 23, arrested and later charged with conspiracy to extort and attempting to extort $25 million from the family. He pleaded not guilty. Police haven't elaborated on the charges, but Tarino Lightbourn did try to sell the teen's medical documents to the media. His lawyer, Pleasant Bridgewater, has also been charged with two counts of extortion. She says she's innocent but has resigned from the Senate. Meanwhile, parliament member Obie Wilchcombe (right) was detained and released.
DJ AM & Travis
The friendship between Travis Barker, 33, and DJ AM, 35, has become strained in the aftermath of their September private-plane crash. "Travis feels the residual effects of the crash have been harder on him," says a source, referring to Barker's assistant Chris Baker, who died. Adds another source: "AM wants to take their show on the road and fly commercial, but Travis never wants to fly again." But Barker's ex-wife, Shanna Moakler, told Scoop Jan. 23 at Privé in Las Vegas the pals remain tight and still "have a bond."
DID SHE WALK OUT ON THE INAUGURATION?
No! "The rumors about Mariah Carey having a 'diva' fit at the Inauguration are completely false," the singer's rep tells Scoop, citing a report claiming Carey, 39, bailed on the ceremony because she wasn't seated by the Obamas. "When she and [husband] Nick [Cannon] arrived in their section, she was surrounded by fans, but unfortunately it caused too much of a ruckus, and it became a little unsafe. She was then escorted to safety by police."
THE BACHELOR BLOG
The Bachelor's Jason Mesnick, 32, is blogging at people.com/bachelor about the latest episode. This week's excerpt: "My date with Molly [inset] was a blast. It was so innocent. We spent the night talking. As for her wearing my clothes home, it was really just out of convenience! ... I didn't give out the final rose because I felt I wouldn't have been living the truth. In my heart, I realized I would not be with Shannon, Megan or Lauren forever."
Drew & Justin
Since splitting in July after nearly a year of dating, Drew Barrymore, 33, and Justin Long, 30, went their separate ways—until now. The two met up after a Jan. 24 junket for their upcoming film He's Just Not That Into You at new lounge h.wood in L.A. They slow danced, hugged and laughed during the evening—but Barrymore tells PEOPLE, "Justin and I are absolutely just friends."
MATTHEW BRODERICK & SARAH JESSICA PARKER

Renée Zellweger & DAN ABRAMS
René Zellweger and MSNBC legal correspondent Dan Abrams were seen sharing a low-key dinner Jan. 17 in Sag Harbor, N.Y., at the American Hotel. "She looked happy," says an onlooker of the duo in the Hamptons. "They were there together, just the two of them."
CHILLING WITH FRIENDS
Actresses who work together, play together: The Devil Wears Prada costars Anne Hathaway (with beau, actor Adam Shulman) and Emily Blunt (with boyfriend John Krasinski) met up at AOC wine bar in Los Angeles Jan. 24. Two nights earlier Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher joined Jessica Alba and Cash Warren at Chateau Marmont. The foursome sat tucked away in the lobby enjoying drinks and conversation.
5 Questions for...
The star of the new series Trust Me talks about bonding with his on-screen BFF, alien visitors, and how to stay happily married in Hollywood.
1 In Trust Me, your character works with his best friend [Tom Cavanagh]. Offscreen, would you want such a working relationship?
It can be done, but I'd find it hard. And with work, sometimes I'm not as polite and Canadian as I usually am!
2 Prior to shooting the series, did you work on bonding with Tom?
As happened 10 years ago with Debra Messing, it was luck. [But] Tom and I are similar: We're the same age, we look alike, and we've been up for the same roles over the years. When we found out we were working together, we thought, "Are we playing brothers?"
3 Did you know much about the advertising industry before landing the role?
The advertising business to me was Bewitched or Thirtysomething. Trust Me is written by two guys who were in the trenches for years, [so] it feels authentic and not dumbed down.
4 Your upcoming film Alien Trespass is a sci-fi comedy about aliens landing on earth. Do you believe in UFOs?
I've never seen one, though anything's possible. I have to wonder why they just keep floating over Arizona? Why not stop and say, "Hey, we've come 97 light-years. Can we get something to eat?"
5 You've been married to your wife, Janet, for 12 years. Any words of wisdom for Hollywood newlyweds?
Don't throw things. Yell, but don't throw things!
