Tradition calls for him to have received a fountain pen, but what James Franco certainly did get was a good ribbing at his fake bar mitzvah Friday as part of his Harvard's Hasty Pudding Man of the Year ceremony.

"Yeah, I guess I wasn't a man until tonight," the actor, 30, joked, the Associated Press reports.

Franco, who played gay activist Harvey Milk's lover in Milk and a spacey pot dealer in Pineapple Express and appeared in the Spider-Man movies, once told The New York Times he felt deprived because he never had a bar mitzvah – a 13-year-old Jewish boy's formal rite of passage into manhood. (Franco's mother is Jewish.)

For the ritual, "Rabbi Spider Man" and "Yentl Express" dancers performed in drag to the folk song "Havah Nagila," while, to accept his award, Franco sported a blond wig, gold sparkly bra and purple high-heeled pumps.

He was also forced to milk "a gay cow."
