Johnston, 42, had pleaded not guilty in a January arraignment.
Son Levi, 18, and daughter Mercedes, 17, joined her in a Palmer, Alaska Superior Court Friday. She also had a new attorney, Anchorage defense lawyer Rex Butler, who replaced a public defender and requested more time to prepare for the case.
In granting Johnston a new trial date of May 18, Superior Court Judge Eric Smith pushed it back from March, reports the Anchorage Daily News.
Alaska State troopers arrested Johnston at her Wasilla home in December after she allegedly sold the painkillers to informants in the parking lot of a Wasilla department store.
On Friday, as she waited for her hearing, Johnston wore a white hoodie sweater and sat next to her children, the Daily News reported.
Son Levi made news in December when his fiancée Bristol, gave birth to their son, Trigg, who is Gov. Sarah Palin¹s grandson.
