Is Amy Winehouse
looking to turn her extended vacation into a permanent residency?
The Grammy winner, 25, has been enjoying the delights of St. Lucia for a few months now
and has no immediate plans to return to the U.K., a source close to her confirms.
"She doesn't need to come back to the U.K. for anything in particular," the
source tells PEOPLE. "She will return at some point. But she's getting everything she needs to do done in St. Lucia at the moment."
Earlier this year, a rep for her confirmed to PEOPLE that the singer is already writing some new songs, and the source adds Winehouse can even do some recording while in the Caribbean: "She can go into a studio over there if she wants. Her record company [Island] is in Jamaica, so it can be arranged."
As for her house hunting on the holiday island, according to reports that first appeared in the U.K.'s The Sun
, the source can only say Winehouse has already arranged housing in the U.K. when she does head back across the Atlantic.
She has a new suburban home on the northern edge of London – a world away from the gritty area of Camden where her apartment was robbed in January
One date she does have upcoming is a headlining appearance
at the Coachella festival in April. Until then, the vacation continues!
