The actress took to her blog to announce she has split from her boyfriend of about three months, Luke Pritchard, 23, of the English indie rock group The Kooks.
"Things just didn't feel quite right," Barton, 23, writes. "There was no cheating or anything terrible, the bad just started to outweigh the good and a long distance relationship is never an easy thing to do."
The pair began dating in December. "I'm very lucky," Pritchard told the UK's Daily Mirror at the time. "She's beautiful, so I feel lucky she decided to go out with someone like me. It came about because we have lots of friends in common and kept going to the same parties."
On her blog, Barton still speaks highly of Pritchard. "I think Luke is a great guy, but the type better suited as a friend," she says. "We have a surprising amount of mutual friends in England and I don't regret our time together, I just couldn't keep it going."
She adds: "There is no bitterness between us...that I know of (sorry, I had to joke!). If there ever is a case of two people staying friends I'm sure it will be the case with us – our personalities are very good for that. "
