Beyoncé is officially part of a new girl group.
The singer is lending her famous voice to Nickelodeon's animated kids' show, Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!, playing Shine, the lead singer of the The Wubb Girls, in four episodes beginning April 27. It will be the star's first children's project.

"She's a very sweet young lady," Beyoncé says of her character. "Whenever Wubbzy needs a little help or a friend, she's right there with The Wubb Girlz to give him a helping hand. I think Shine is pretty cool."
While Beyoncé has recorded albums (as a solo artist and with Destiny's Child) and performed for fans across the globe – including President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle – and appeared in films, her role for Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! was "all about fun," she says. "It was all about my inner child and me being 5 years old all over again."
But she's also hoping that she may inspire actual 5-year-olds to enjoy music as she does.
"Music is very, very important to me. It has given me so much confidence and it’s given me purpose in my life," she tells PEOPLE. "When I was a little baby my father would play music to me and one of my first memories is dancing to Stevie Wonder. When I was five I performed for the first time and I found my first love. I think I was able to avoid a lot of negative things in life because I had goals and because I was so focused on music. I am so, so lucky to be a musician."
And for parents of little Beyoncés-in-the-making, she has some advice: "I know it’s very difficult for a person to become a professional singer," she says. "But the best thing you can do for your child is encourage them, help them, teach them, sing with them, make sure you go to their performances."
