Max had remained under medical care due to birth-weight-related issues, Sheen's rep, Stan Rosenfield, said earlier this month. He has now confirmed to PEOPLE that the infant, born March 14, was released several days ago.
"Premature babies are often underweight. Max made weight and went home," Rosenfield said. "It's frustrating to be a parent and not have your family home with you. This is the last week of Two and a Half Men [which is going on hiatus], so Charlie and Brooke will be able to spend some quality time with their kids."
For his part, Sheen is already playing doting dad. "The weight issue is very common among infants who were born before reaching full term," he said earlier this month. "I know a lot of people are not fond of hospital food; I just didn't realize that they started so young."
Access Hollywood was first to report that Max had been released from the hospital.
Max and Bob are the first children together for Sheen, 43, and his wife, 31. The actor also has daughters, Sam, 4, and Lola, 3, with ex-wife Denise Richards, and another, 24-year-old Cassandra, from a previous marriage.
