He's a country maverick in Big & Rich, but on his second solo album—he recorded the first before B&R—John Rich sounds like just another good ol' boy. None of the ballads, especially, really stands out. And the one time he takes a risk—a big-band turn on "Drive Myself to Drink"—he fails.
