More bromance than romantic comedy, the genial I Love You, Man is about what happens when Peter (Rudd) realizes he has no one to ask to be his best man at his upcoming wedding. In need of a guy pal, he befriends Sydney (Segel), a free-spirited goofball. Soon Peter and his new chum are pounding back brews, jamming to Rush tunes, and Peter is confiding to Sydney about his sex life with his fiancée, Zooey (Jones). Man employs a smutty mouth and a big heart as it tracks the duo's budding buddyhood and the friction it causes between Peter and Zooey. With its appealing cast, Love sails along on goodwill and blush-worthy bawdiness. Like instant chocolate pudding, it goes down easy—even if it isn't especially good for you.
