Going ... going ... WAIT!
For a second time, Michael Jackson has slammed the brakes on the sale of items once housed at his beloved Neverland estate, which he shuttered after he was acquitted in 2005 of sexually abusing a child there.
The items – including a Rolls-Royce limo, a golden throne and the gates to the former property near Santa Barbara – were scheduled to be auctioned in Beverly Hills beginning April 22, Reuters reports. The public preview of the nearly 1,400 lots had already begun.
Jackson, 50, after apparently agreeing to the sale of the items earlier this year, sued in March to stop the auction. But according to a joint statement issued by the singer's representative, Tohme R. Tohme, and auctioneer Darren Julien, the two sides have reached a settlement that will return the property to Jackson, possibly to be exhibited to the public.
