Zac Efron Has a Hot Date in Berlin – His Mom

Zac Efron landed in Berlin this weekend and was greeted with a familiar sound – from the hordes of screaming girls.

In Germany to promote the European release of his hit romantic comedy 17 Again, the sexy screen star, 21, saw the sights, caught some rays and even indulged in a favorite local custom of having a drink in a beer garden. His date for the trip: his mother, Starla.

On Saturday, the two did their drinking at a Berlin favorite, the Fischerhütte, on Schlachtensee Lake. After driving through the city, the Efrons had dinner at Käfer, the gourmet restaurant in the glass dome atop the historic Reichstag parliament building.

On Sunday afternoon, more than 800 shrieking fans lined a cinema red carpet to catch a glimpse of their fringed hero. The hottie, who was jauntily clad in a dark blazer over a rumpled white T-shirt and dark gray jeans, happily signed autographs and posed for photos. The reaction even seemed to take him by surprise.

"This is amazing," Efron said for the TV cameras. "The decibel level is really high."

Inside the theater, Efron greeted the audience auf Deutsch with a hearty "Guten Tag," before continuing in English to say, "It's a big honor for me to be here. A lot of people worked hard for this film." Then, after promising to return to Berlin in the future, he disappeared.
