Following a year that has seen her arrested, face a possible divorce and start life anew in the suburbs, Amy Winehouse is headed back to where she belongs – the stage.
The singer, 25, is due to perform Friday at the St. Lucia Jazz Festival, her first gig in about eight months, and she says that singing there is an "honor," especially as she is to appear on the same bill as Chaka Khan and Patti LaBelle.
"Since I first came to the island, I have been greeted with nothing but kindness and friendship, as well as incredible music and the most beautiful of settings," she said in a statement Friday. "I have made friends for life and have been inspired by my surroundings."
On St. Lucia since April, Winehouse has a set of portable recording equipment in a villa where she's been living. Her band arrived on Wednesday and she has been rehearsing since then, her rep Chris Goodman tells PEOPLE.
