Ginnifer Goodwin has found a way to keep her name in the tabloids. "I perpetuate rumors that I've dated people that I've never actually dated," she tells the June issue of W magazine. "Dorothy Parker once said something along the lines of 'I don't care what's written about me so long as it isn't true.' It's safe making."
One person she's definitely not dating: actor Chris Klein. The couple dated for two years, but amicably split last December. Goodwin, who tells the magazine she is dating, likes having a special someone in her life.
"I'm a better person in a relationship, and I'm a happier person," she tells the magazine. "I need to come home at the end of the day and have it not be about me and my freaking hair and makeup. And I think my work is more inspired when home is safe and sound and solid because what I do for a living is so bananas and so insecure."
Goodwin, 30, says she has learned that women "don’t have to compromise" when it comes to finding a mate. "I know now that there are men out there who are, for me, the whole package, who are supportive of my successes because they know I will be just as supportive of theirs. I'm less tolerant of foolishness now; I know that it's important I not tie myself up with the wrong person, because then I will miss the right person coming along."
Still, the actress, who accompanied the W interview with a racy photo shoot, says actors are not exactly romance experts. She says she fielded "inane" dating questions from reporters while promoting He's Just Not That Into You earlier this year. "I don't know why anyone would want to ask an actor for dating advice," she says rolling her eyes. "We are not the poster children for healthy relationships."
