Selena Gomez's New Perspective on Love

When it comes to romance and relationships, Selena Gomez hopes for the kind of magic found in the movies by her employer, Disney.

"I want someone who is crazy about me, who treats me like a princess," Gomez tells Teen Vogue in its June edition. "I want the picture-perfect fairy-tale stuff."

With her relationship with Nick Jonas behind her, The Wizards of Waverly Place star, 16, says she has a new perspective about the guys she wants to fall in love with.

"I used to say that I wanted someone cute and nice, an actor too, so he'd get it. But now I think it would be good for me to date someone who's not in the business," Gomez says. "I want someone honest, someone who's very sweet to my family and friends, and polite to the other people around me."

One thing for sure, the actress now knows she doesn't want anybody who is pretentious. "Being cool, having a cool energy is just not attractive to me."

With the up and downs that come along with relationships, no matter what, Gomez can rely on Taylor Swift and BFF Demi Lovato for advice and encouragement.

"We talk every single day ... she's helped me through some really hard times," Gomez says of Swift, who is also a Jonas Brother ex-girlfriend. And with Lovato she says they have always been there to support each other – even with guys.

"We're both surrounded by adults 24/7, and we have to act professional, but when we're together we can just be sixteen. We watch movies, talk about boys, and do each other's hair and makeup."
