"I cannot with a clear conscience move forward supporting and promoting the Miss Universe Organization when I no longer believe in it," says Moakler, a former Miss USA, in a statement.
It was a turnaround for Moaker, who on Tuesday offered her support to Prejean, 21, after Donald Trump, co-owner of the Miss Universe organization, allowed her to continue as Miss California USA and Miss USA runner-up.
"This was a very sad decision for me. I stayed up all night trying to make the right decision," Moakler tells PEOPLE.
