The former Dawson's Creek star and McComb, both 32, separated a couple of months ago but "it was totally amicable and they remain good friends," says his rep.
They got engaged in early 2003 and were married over the Fourth of July weekend that year in Malibu. The two exchanged vows in an outdoor ceremony in front of a group of guests that included Van Der Beek's Dawson's Creek costars Michelle Williams, Busy Phillips and pal Soleil Moon Frye.
