Kelly Preston Back to Work – with Miley Cyrus

Having maintained a low profile since the death in January of her and husband John Travolta's 16-year-old son, Jett, Kelly Preston is quietly doing movie work, assuming her role as the mother of Miley Cyrus's character in the coming-of-age film, The Last Song, say news reports.

Shooting is taking place in Savannah, Georgia. Greg Kinnear is also in the cast, playing an estranged father.

Preston, 46, will also be seen this November in Old Dogs with Matt Dillon and Robin Williams. Travolta, 55, did not participate in the recent promotion of his current film with Denzel Washington, The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 but expressed his appreciation to those on the production who, he said on his Web site, "stepped up without hesitation to help promote this wonderful film … their unselfish efforts have allowed my family the additional time to reconcile our loss."
