Harry Potter Actor Pleads Guilty to Growing Pot
Young actor Jamie Waylett, who stars as a Harry Potter villain's
sidekick, found himself in real-life trouble Thursday when he admitted to a
Waylett, 19, pleaded guilty to growing cannabis under tents in his bedroom
at his mother's London home. His case was adjourned until July 21. The offense carries a maximum 14 year sentence.
Waylett plays bully Vincent Crabbe – a comrade of nasty Draco Malfoy
– in the hit movies, including the current Harry Potter and
the Half-Blood Prince.
He was arrested in April with a friend, John Innis, 20, in central London,
when Innis's black Audi was stopped and police discovered eight bags of
cannabis and a knife. When police searched Waylett's home in Kilburn,
northwest London, they subsequently found 10 cannabis plants, the
The pair appeared before judge Timothy Workman at London's City of
Westminster Magistrates Court where Waylett's lawyer Cheryl Rudden asked the
court not to "make an example" of her client as he had cooperated fully
with the authorities, reports say.
