CRITIC'S CHOICE

ALT-ROCK
Jack White never ceases to amaze with the White Stripes and the Raconteurs. His third band is no exception. With Alison Mosshart of the Kills lending her terrific wail, Jack Lawrence of the Raconteurs on bass, Dean Fertita of Queens of the Stone Age on guitar, and White on drums and vocals, the Dead Weather unleashes raw, psychedelic grooves and loaded lyrics ("Wake me up when you're broke/ Only if it's broken" on "I Cut Like a Buffalo"). Horehound is a crafty classic.
