The request, filed in Los Angeles Superior court Thursday, states: "The minor children were completely and wholly financial dependent upon their father, Michael Jackson" and currently have "no financial resources to provide for their care and support."
The late singer's mother, Katherine Jackson, who currently has temporary guardianship of Prince Michael I, Paris and Prince Michael II, (a.k.a "Blanket"), is also included in the request. Court documents say that Katherine was financially dependent upon her son and "has no independent means of support" other than her "extremely modest" Social Security benefits.
The matter was put off until August 3, when issues pertaining to the estate – including permanent custody of the children – will come before the judge.
