It was supposed to be only a picnic – though the blindfold should have tipped off Holly Williams.

Last week, Nashville drummer Chris Coleman, 29, drove the granddaughter of music legend Hank Williams to Leipers Fork, Tenn, unwrapped her blindfold and treated her to a picnic with wine and cheese. She was then taken on a hike to look for civil war relics.

"I dug up a beautiful wooden box with my favorite love quote on it," Williams, 28, tells PEOPLE, "and the engagement date carved in roman numerals. He wood-burned the letters onto the box! He got on one knee and I opened the box, underneath the flowers and basil were the rings."

A gushing Williams called it "a perfect engagement."

Williams is currently on tour promoting her sophomore album Here With Me.
