Singer Billy Currington Injured when Stage Collapses at Music Festival
Currington, 35, suffered a concussion and was taken to the hospital. After being released, he posted a picture of his black eye on his Twitter page. He's now recuperating at home in Nashville.
The bass player in Currington's band, Alex Stevens, 33, was stuck under debris for half an hour when the stage collapsed. He received emergency surgery to repair damage to his arm and is now receiving treatment in Nashville.
"The boys and I are very grateful to be home and for life itself. We thank you for your prayers and concern and will see you on the road again soon," Currington wrote on Twitter Monday.
One person was killed during the accident: Local reports name the victim as Donna Moore of Lloydminster, Alberta. "My heart goes out to the family of Donna Moore who was killed and all of the other fans who were hurt on Saturday," Currington said in a statement Monday. Nearly 75 people were injured during the collapse.
Currington's single "People Are Crazy" is No. 1 on Billboard's country chart.
