Here, in her weekly PEOPLE.com weight-loss blog, the Dance Your Ass Off host, 36, dishes about staying relatively strong in spite of the food fest and how seeing Sherri Shepherd's bathing-suit body in PEOPLE gave her hope.
Okay, I had an awesome week. I actually went to the gym and worked out about an hour a day except for Saturday when – dum dum dum dum – I hosted a BBQ! I made it as healthy as possible! I even put out light beer and I don't even drink beer. My husband's friends were not happy! BUT it was Temptation City. I did okay. I wouldn't have won the grand prize but I would have come in fourth place, and fourth is pretty good (that's where I ended up on Dancing with the Stars)!
I grilled chicken that I marinated in freshly squeezed lemon juice and veggies in balsamic vinegar, I made a huge salad and corn on the cob. Dinner was perfection. The chips and salsa were a little bit of a tiny downfall but not enough to beat myself up over. I actually bought lime chips because I didn't think I would like them. What's not to like! After everyone left, my husband and I cleaned up and did the old trick of drowning the leftovers – just like when I put the fries in the sink and turned on the cold water to wash the calories away!!!!
You Don't Have to Be a Size 0I have to admit that I'm kinda sick of talking about myself. OMG – I may be the first actress in history to say that! While I was on the stair machine I was watching Big Brother and listening to the soundtrack to the Broadway show Next to Normal. And because the stair machine is my least favorite place to be on earth (and created by Satan himself!), I was ALSO reading PEOPLE when I got to the BodyWatch page and almost fell off the machine!
It was a photo and an article on Sherri Shepherd. She was wearing a bathing suit and – get this – SHE WAS NOT A SIZE 0, she didn't lose 60 lbs. and she didn't look airbrushed! She looked beautiful!!! She was radiant and inspirational! I have been saying all along that I want to prove that you don't have to be under 120 lbs. to wear a bathing suit and look hot and she did it! I was so happy for her and for all the women that can look up to her for being sexy and true to herself. She says, "I like the size I am." She's a wonderful role model! P.S. Her legs are to die for and I hope to look as good as she does when I do my photo shoot – in 2012!
My biggest challenge this week: I tried lime tortilla chips and didn't eat the whole bag! OMG – have you ever had them? They are amazing! Move over, Doritos!
I am most proud of: sticking with my "Tweeting before eating." People have really talked me off some ledges. The night I wanted chocolate chocolate-chip ice cream – @writerchickmc, THANK YOU!
