"They seemed happy and genuinely excited to tie the knot," says a guest who celebrated with Buerge, 35, a banker and restaurant owner, and McIntosh, 33, a commercial insurance agent. "Obviously, Angye was beautiful. He's got a lovely bride."
Pastel green-and-pink accents – from the table settings to the four-tiered cake iced to resemble wrapped gifts – decorated the room as her father gave away the bride, who wore a cream-colored dress. With 75 guests in attendance, the two walked toward an altar fashioned from four columns draped with white curtains. Following a brief exchange of vows, the newlyweds "buzzed out of the hall," says the guest, "everybody got themselves ready, and then they were re-introduced as a couple."
Attendance doubled for the reception, which unfolded in the same ballroom atop the historic theater and office building that Buerge has owned since 2006. Trolley's Downtown Bar & Grille, the Springfield restaurant in which he is a partner, catered the buffet. "It reflected who they are and the relationship they have," says another guest.
The couple have dated for a couple of years, since being introduced on a group outing by one of Buerge's former girlfriends. "They are always happy to be together. They have the same goals, they have the same drive to be successful, they have the same interests, they're both very active. They love to run together, go for long walks. They love to travel on the rare opportunity that they have that opportunity."
That goes for the honeymoon, too. That's on hold. "They pretty much just went straight back to work," says the wedding ceremony guest.
