On CNN's State of the Union Sunday, Lieberman responded with a chuckle to the 30 Rock actor's claim in a recent Playboy interview that he'd consider moving to Connecticut to run against Lieberman.
"You know, make my day," the Democrat, 67, told CNN's John King with a laugh.
In the July/August issue of Playboy, Baldwin, 51, who is known for being politically outspoken, was asked if he would ever run for office. "I have sometimes thought I could move to New Jersey or Connecticut and run," he said. "I'd love to run against Joe Lieberman. I have no use for him."
Baldwin added, though, that it's probably just a fantasy. "I'm a carry-me-out-in-a-box New Yorker," he said.
In the CNN interview, Lieberman added: "I respect Alec Baldwin as an actor and as a comedian, and if he wants to run, that's his right."
