Parker Posey Diagnosed with Lyme Disease

Parker Posey is known for her feisty screen roles, but she has recently been knocked down by an illness.

A statement released Wednesday by Playwrights Horizons said that Posey would not be able to perform in the new stage production of This "due to developing a case of Lyme disease."

The actress, who has starred in movies such as Best in Show, Waiting for Guffman and Dazed and Confused, was set to play the lead in the production, which starts previews Nov. 6.

A replacement for Posey, 40, in the comedy will be announced shortly, according to Playwrights Horizons.
