She may be no stranger to the cameras, but Kim Kardashian is just starting to build her acting chops. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star will appear on the new Fox sitcom Brothers in an episode scheduled to air Oct. 23.

"I had so much fun," Kardashian tells PEOPLE of playing herself opposite costars Michael Strahan and Daryl "Chill" Mitchell. "Even though I'm playing myself, you kind of have to play it up a little bit."

But, it was easier for Kardashian to drop by the Brothers set to film her appearance because she knew that her good friend, former NFL star Strahan, was there to welcome her.

"I know his fiancée, Michael knows my ex-boyfriend, and we've spent time at Super Bowls, just hanging out," she says. "It's really fun to be around people that you're comfortable with, and you can just be yourself and have fun with the character."

That's not to say that she didn't fight a few butterflies before her big scene. "I always get a little bit nervous because I am new to acting and I respect it so much, so I just want to do it justice."

To prepare, Kardashian consulted sister Khloe, who she says is "a great actress." "We went over the lines together. I like how real and honest she is. So I just got a little attitude from her," Kardashian says.

Her upcoming sitcom appearance is just another step to her ultimate goal of acting beside comedic legends such as Jim Carrey.

"To work with someone like Jim Carrey would be hysterical. It would be so hard to keep your composure. I would literally be like crying, laughing so hard. There are certain people that make me cry, and he's one of them."
