Patrick Swayze, who died from pancreatic cancer this week, holds a special place in hearts of residents of Lake Lure, North Carolina.

That is the town where part of Swayze's most beloved movie, Dirty Dancing, was filmed, and residents are planning a memorial for the actor at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19.

"We've gotten a lot of calls from the community, from people wanting some place to go," Michelle Whitaker of the Rutherford County Tourism Development Authority told the Associated Press. "The idea was born of people calling and requesting, 'What can I do? Where can I go to pay my respects?'"

The service is being held at Firefly Cove, a housing development that was used as the setting for Camp Chimney Rock in the film. Many of the 1987 outdoor scenes were located there, as was the cabin where Swayze's character, Johnny Castle, lived.

Although the service is free, visitors will be asked to donate to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

No formal memorial service has been announced for the actor.
