Even in death, DJ AM, whose real name was Adam Goldstein, will be fighting hard to save others from the perils of drug dependence.

The celebrated deejay, who died of an accidental drug overdose in August at age 36, shot an MTV series called Gone Too Far just before his death.

The eight-part series will finally air on MTV starting Monday, Oct. 12, at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

In the show, he speaks about wrestling with his own addictions and his fight to become sober for 11 years. He then delves into the lives of young people battling their own addictions, demonstrating how substance abuse devastates families and friendships. He also tries to help the addicts find the road to recovery.

In a statement posted on MTV.com, Goldstein's family said they pondered long and hard about whether to allow the series to air, but ultimately decided releasing the videos would do the most good.

"It is our hope through airing this show that people will get to see the side of Adam that we knew and loved, not just the celebrity DJ, but the honest and caring person who gave so much of himself to help others. The decision to air the show has been difficult, but we do this with the profound belief that it will inspire others to seek help," the statement read.
