Avril Lavigne Files for Divorce

Avril Lavigne filed for divorce and asked the court to deny spousal support to estranged husband Deryck Whibley, Los Angeles court documents show.

Lavigne, 24, cited the standard reason of irreconcilable differences and said that their property rights are to be determined, according to the Superior Court papers filed Friday.

Lavigne and the 29-year-old musician for Sum 41 were married for three years. They announced their separation last month.

Earlier this month, Whibley was spotted getting close with model/designer Hanna Beth Merjos in Las Vegas.

Lavigne's attorney wasn't immediately available for comment.
