Psychiatrist Reveals Anna Nicole Ditched Rehab
Dr. Nathalie Maullin, who prescribed hospitalization for the ex-Playboy playmate, was speaking in court in the trial against Smith's lawyer and boyfriend, Howard K. Stern, and two doctors, who prosecutors say illegally supplied her with drugs.
"She said, 'I'll do anything for my baby,' " Maullin said of the beginning of Smith's week at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Smith – who died in February 2007 – was given substitute drugs to wean her off her addictions, but when faced with having to give up drugs entirely and go into psychological sessions, Smith lashed out and walked out of treatment altogether.
"She was very hostile. It was, 'Give me my medications and leave me alone,' " Maullin said, according to the Los Angeles Times.
When Smith refused to join an outpatient program or check into a rehab center, Stern asked if it were really necessary, Maullin testified.
Smith died 10 months later.
