>• A mom of two (with ex Ethan Hawke), Uma Thurman, 39, ditches her glam image to play a frenzied Manhattan mother.

IN THIS MOVIE, YOU'RE MOUSY!

They didn't have to try so hard to deglamorize me; they just didn't re-glamorize me. We wanted her to be real, and her character wasn't the type to get her hair tinted once a month. But this [grabbing her styled hair] fits my values fine!

SO YOU'VE NEVER BEEN THE CRAZED MOM WHO RUNS ERRANDS IN HER PJ'S?

I've totally done that. I have memories of my mom doing it too—I was so embarrassed.

DO YOU SWEAT PLANNING BIRTHDAYS FOR MAYA, 11, AND LEVON, 7?

Of course! And I get panicked something will go wrong, and it all seems like the end of the earth.

JODIE FOSTER APPEARS AS HERSELF, SWARMED BY PAPARAZZI AT THE PLAYGROUND. SOUND FAMILIAR?

Oh yeah. In the exact same park. There are so many scenes in this film that are almost like a home movie [to me].

ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO TURNING 40 NEXT APRIL?

I couldn't possibly be more excited, because this was not my decade. I'm excited to start a new one.
